tTP Episode #22 – Austin Meade – Texas-Americana Music Rock and Roller

At the ripe old age of twenty-six, Texas and Americana Music Rock and Roller, Austin Meade, is carving out his own niche in the independent music scene.

Austin’s latest record, “Waves” has all the vibe, feel and look of the 1970s, all the way down to the look of the front-man.

Despite his relatively young age, Austin has four records under his belt and is quickly solidifying himself as an authentic artist that’s here to stay.

In this interview we learn how Austin’s father, a Baptist preacher, was a fan of some 70’s greats including Styx and .38 Special which bled over into Austin’s taste in music and is partially responsible for the direction he’s taken with his own music.

While attending college in College Station, Texas, Austin was introduced to Texas Country and Red Dirt Music along with the artists making up the genre.  For a love of music, drums and guitar, Austin soon found himself trying to subtly introduce himself to folks like William Clark Green, Randy Rogers and Cross Canadian Ragweed frontman, Cody Canada.

By developing these relationships with these type of artists, Austin has gained the respect of many of his peers in the music business; so much so that Austin now teaches guitar for Cody Canada at the local School of Rock for youngsters.

We expect to see great things in the future out of this genuine, hard-working rocker.
